NC Science Festival

Explore 4-H and science
Celebrate science with the NC Science Festival.  Fun activities are offered across the state.  To celebrate, Watauga County 4-H is offering 4-H “Grow Green” for 5-12 year olds from 3:30-4:30.    Get ready for Earth Day by exploring some hands-on science with a “grow green” theme.   The workshop will be held at the Agricultural Conference Center.

North Carolina Science Festival is a two-week-long, 500-mile-wide celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Across the state, North Carolinians participate in science talks, lab tours, nature experiences, exhibits, performances and other activities, hosted by all kinds of community organizations –schools, colleges and universities, parks, libraries, museums and businesses.

NCSF was founded in 2010 by UNC-Chapel Hill’s Morehead Planetarium and Science Center and is the first statewide science festival in the U.S. Morehead continues to produce the Festival in partnership with many sponsors and event hosts. The 2013 Festival is scheduled for April 5-21, and Time Warner Cable is the 2013 Festival Champion.

Veterinary Medicine Open House

NC State College of Veterinary Medicine
Open House 2013...Our Animal Connections

We share more with animals than we may know.
Animals touch our daily lives from the food we eat, the products we consume, the health care advances we benefit from, and the services, entertainment, and companionship we enjoy. Wildlife species add to the beauty and wonder of our world. The connection between wildlife, domestic animals, the environment, and humans is called "One Health" and this concept is the foundation for veterinary medicine.
The NC State College of Veterinary Medicine Open House, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 27, will explore the One Health concept with exhibits and discussions on the connection between animals, the environment, and people. The event also will offer the traditional opportunities to get up close with “creatures great and small,” canine demonstrations and displays, and chances to talk with faculty and DVM students. More than 30 fun and informative tour stops explain advances in veterinary medicine, veterinary medical technology, best care practices for the family pet, and what it takes to become a veterinarian.
Location: 4700 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh
